The Works Museum

The Works Museum is a hands-on engineering and design museum for kids and their grown-ups. They focus on engineering and encourage the kids to be builders, designers and problem solvers -  they are the engineers. Mission: To inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and creative problem solvers.

The Museum has special events, birthday party options, and great camp offerings for school breaks and summer. Museum highlights include an interactive Experience Gallery where kids can experiment with simple machines, structures and shapes, sensors, and imaging and optical technologies. Kids touch, try and build as they explore how things work! Try the kinetic K’Nex Ball Machine just inside the entrance! The Workshop is Museum’s new creative space for families, where families can take specialty classes together in areas like electronics, sewing and wearable tech, woodworking, and more.

Parking is free; parking in the east lot is closest to the entrance. You can pack a lunch and have it in their lunchroom where vending machines are also available. There are many lunch options nearby as well, and your wristband allows you to leave for lunch and return.

At this writing, the next event is CSI: Nature, Saturday, March 10, 1-4pm - A furry forensic science experience! Sort through evidence like animal tracks, skulls, and furs to figure out who committed a crime. Presented by Three Rivers Park District. In April there will be a whole April Robotics week celebration. Events and classes are mostly focused on the 5-12 age group, but they also offer a PreK Monday event you can read about HERE. Other events include Girl Time, Tech Fest, and Robot Day.
