First Kids' Art Show in Space!

“What are you most proud of on earth and want to share with the the rest of the universe?”

The work of Carl Sagan inspired NASA and five Draw Together classrooms from around the country to create art answering this question. The kids’ drawings were etched into the metal surface of a satellite, which a rocket carried into space in 2021. The satellite orbits Earth, going around and around, showing off these drawings—the FIRST EVER kids art show in outer space! You can see the kids’ drawings HERE.

The question is a Grand conversation starter! And Wendy and her Draw Together videos are a great inspiration for creating art beyond what you may have thought possible. Pick up a pencil and join the kids! We did this daily during Covid Grandma School! Since we are talking about space in this post, I’m linking some space-themed shows drawing lessons.

Grandycamp has a Pinterest page with Space Crafts. Jack chose a Space theme for his 5th birthday party. We made the requisite styrofoam planets to hang from the chandelier and used edible glitter on the cupcakes. He received many of our favorite Space books, of course! And here is a fun space play box made from stuff we found at Michael’s. He still has a fabulous space-themed room at age eight.
