Grandma Shark and Google 3D Images

This is SO MUCH FUN! Think of the postcards you could create or social media posts…or just the fun of trying all the possibilities with the grandkids. Most modern smartphones are supported!

Google an animal (they don't have everything BTW - no dinos!), and find the google image that says 'Meet a life-sized _ close-up. There will be a button for "view in 3D."

The animal will pop up on it's own screen when you push the button. Play with the size and angles by moving your finger around on the image. It will continue to "act" once you get a size and angle. These creatures feature sound effects that automatically play as you spin and zoom on an object. I “practiced” for a while before doing it with the kids.

At the top of the screen, there will an object tab for the creature, and an AR tab. Play with your object (animal) and then click on the AR (augmented reality) tab - it will portray the object in your space.

It will take some messing with to get the object right (you can use your finger to change viewing angle positions and pinch to enlarge or reduce size), but all of it is fun! Then click toward the bottom where your camera button usually is. The camera button will appear - I snapped quickly to capture roars etc at the right moment. We had to have some time-outs for laughter!

If you are someone who likes video instruction, here is a how-to link. Google has partnered with NASA for 3D space images and plans for many more 3D animations like human biological systems and virtual product shopping.

3D Animal choices as of this writing include:
